Emirates Airlines & Air Canada collaborate over codeshare alliance

Emirates Airlines and Air Canada have reportedly formed a strategic alliance that will allow two parties to benefit from each other's routes and offer easy access to new destinations.

As per reliable sources, both the airlines are planning to set up a codeshare alliance later this year, subject to regulatory approvals.

Under this move, the passengers of Air Canada will be provided with greater choices in travelling to the UAE and destinations beyond Dubai.

The Emirates passengers will also have access to a broader network when travelling to some major destinations across Air Canada.

Tim Clark, President of Emirates, , said that this is a significant partnership which will support customers with access to even more destinations in Canada and the Americas via the US and Toronto gateways.

It will also open up several new route combinations for passengers across Emirates and Air Canada's wide networks in the Americas, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

The aviation industry was one of the most suffering industries during the pandemic, as several airlines around the globe were forced to shut down flights on existing routes and cancel plans for new destination launches.

In February 2021, Air Canada suspended several flights to Dubai and other international destinations due to the pandemic, but after 4 months, it resumed as the COVID cases started falling.

Under this partnership, Emirates and Air Canada will also be offering reciprocal frequent flyer benefits and lounge access for eligible customers.

Furthermore, passengers can book connecting flights between both airlines' networks via a single ticket. This will provide seamless connectivity to carriers' worldwide hubs and baggage transfers to their destinations.

The further details of the collaboration and specific codeshare routes between the two airlines will be revealed after finalized, Emirates said.
